Teen Poetry Slam...Hilarity Ensues

Well, we only had three people come out for the Teen Poetry Slam last week, but we had a great time just the same! The program kicked off with silly poetry readings on the stage, followed by a poem puzzle game, and finaly a crazy writing game called "Composition." The results of this game are posted below, but first let me share with you the instructions our writers were given before they began. Also keep in mind that everyone had been noshing on iced coffee, brownies and chocolate chip muffins the whole time leading up to this game :)

The group is given a sheet of paper and a paper clip. The first writer starts a story by writing two lines. She then folds the top edge of the paper over her words, fastens it with a paper clip, and then writes two words to begin the next line. The paper is then passed to the next writer at the table. That writer completes the sentence and adds another, folds it down, adds two words to start another line and passes it on. This continues as long as you want the game to last or until the page is full.

OK...ready for the results??

Bob's pants were walking one day. He was eating flowers. He then frolicked in a field of poisonous socks. He frolicked so fast, his pants fell off. After that trees came to life and started attacking people. Towns were destroyed, the Earth suddenly was in chaos. The stars blew up then he turned into a chick. She then ate chicken wings and died. So Alfred thought he could save her, and failed. Days later the moon exploded and bits came flying everywhere towards earth! The planet Pluto started planting corn. The planets blew up then the clouds vomited. All of a sudden Bob died of a heat stroke. Andrew got shocked and died too. After hours the chicken noodle soup got cold, but the ramen store closed, and the noodle soup disappeared. During midnight a volcano erupted then she vomited. And the sky turned red and everybody died. The end.

A crazy story indeed, but everyone enjoyed the program!
